The utility also asks customers to voluntarily continue water use restrictions to prevent water wasting activities. See list of restrictions (En Español).
Bay Point Files Application to Fluoridate Water and Improve Water Quality Golden State Water Company (GSWC) filed an application in August 2009 with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to address Bay Point customers' desire to have their water fluoridated and the company's commitment to provide water that meets federal and state water quality standards. See the notification (En EspaƱol) mailed to customers.
Golden State has Invested More than $5.1 Million in the Bay Point Water System since 2000 Golden State Water Company (GSWC) is constantly improving its water infrastructure to ensure its supply, distribution, and storage systems are adequate. From 2000 to 2008, GSWC spent more than $5.1 million on improvements in the Bay Point water system, including 4,120 feet of new distribution pipeline. "Our approach to infrastructure improvements keeps the system properly maintained and reduces risk of significant failures," said GSWC's Northern District Manager Paul Schubert. Golden State Water Company is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission, which established a Water Action Plan. One of the six objectives of the plan is to promote water infrastructure investment. Nationally, leaking pipes lose an estimated seven billion gallons of clean drinking water a day, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers.
New Tiered Rates in Effect Sept. 1, 2009, to Encourage Conservation for Golden State Water Company Customers in Bay Point Golden State Water Company (GSWC) residential customers in the utility’s Bay Point Customer Service Area have tiered rates to promote water conservation. The change, approved by the California Public Utilities Commission, went effect on Sept. 1, 2009. GSWC will not exceed CPUC authorized revenues as a result of tiered rates. “Our new tiered rates will encourage customers to use water wisely by promoting cost savings,” said GSWC Northern District Manager Paul Schubert. “Ultimately, saving water is a win-win situation. Customers who save will benefit by paying less, while we protect our most precious natural resource.” Here’s how tiered rates work. Customers get charged for each unit of water they use. A unit is equal to one hundred cubic feet of water, or Ccf (748 gallons). In Bay Point, residential customers will pay the lowest rate for each Ccf they use in tier one, up to 8 Ccf. For every unit of water used in tier two, which is 9-14 Ccf, customers will pay a 15 percent higher rate. In tier three, customers will pay an additional 15 percent for every unit of water from 15 Ccf and above. GSWC reduced the service charge so a greater percentage of future water bills will be based on water consumption. For more information, see our tariff sheets below.
