Golden State Water provides reliable, high-quality drinking water to approximately 11,000 customers in the Claremont Customer Service Area (CSA), which includes Claremont and portions of Montclair, Pomona and Upland. Our local team includes 11 dedicated employees who take pride in serving Claremont customers 24/7.

Local water comes from two sources:  60 percent comes from local groundwater supplies, which Golden State Water maintains, and the balance is imported from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) via Three Valleys Municipal Water District.

As a regulated utility, Golden State Water’s rates are determined by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) through a General Rate Case (GRC) to ensure customers receive a fair rate for reliable, quality water service.

  • Effective April 20, 2017, an average residential customer in the Claremont Customer Service Area with a 1” meter, using 11,220 gallons (1,500 cubic feet or 15 Ccf) of water per month, would see a monthly bill increase of $4.94 from $89.58 to $94.52 compared to 2016 (excluding any applicable surcharges).
  • Effective July 1, 2018, local water rates will decrease by 3.21% to pass cost savings from the new lower federal corporate income tax requirement through to customers. Click here to learn more.
  • Golden State Water’s rates for 2016, 2017 and 2018 were approved by the CPUC in March 2017. The GRC approval was originally expected prior to Jan. 1, 2016, and the delayed approval prevented Golden State Water from implementing the new rates for 2016 on schedule (2015 rates remained in place during the delay period). More than $7.1 million in infrastructure improvements are planned for 2018 in the Claremont service area.

Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP)
Every five years, UWMPs are prepared for systems that supply more than 3,000 acre-feet of water per year or serve more than 3,000 connections. UWMPs are prepared to support long-term planning goals and ensure that adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future water demands.

On April 7, 2017, Governor Jerry Brown issued an executive order lifting the drought emergency for most of the state, while asking Californians to continue using water responsibly and make conservation a way of life.

Local water-use and outdoor irrigation restrictions implemented during the drought emergency have been lifted.
