Water from Wrightwood’s Water System is Safe to Drink
Boil Water Notice has been lifted
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 28, 2025
Wrightwood, CA – Golden State Water Company and the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, have lifted the Boil Water Notice for customers served by the Wrightwood Water System. The water meets state drinking water standards and is safe to drink.
“Water quality tests conducted by the state’s Division of Drinking Water confirm that Wrightwood’s water meets state safe drinking water standards. Before consuming the water, customers are advised to flush their water taps,” said Samantha Chen, water quality manager at Golden State Water Company. “Despite the severity of the Christmas Eve storm, the water system proved resilient, and emergency generators ensured the water system remained operational during the power outage.”
The company has provided instructions to customers on how to flush their taps, drain hot water from their water heater, and dispose of juice and ice made from tap water. Detailed instructions are available at www.gswater.com/wrightwood/boil-notice. If customers have questions, they can call the 24-hour customer service center at 1-800-999-4033 or visit www.gswater.com/wrightwood.
Background: During severe storms, heavy debris flows and flooding damaged a fire hydrant, resulting in reduced water pressure in limited areas of the Wrightwood Water System. Concerned about customer health and safety, Golden State Water and the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice for the entire water system on December 26, 2026. The damaged fire hydrant was repaired, restoring full water pressure to the affected areas. During the power outage, the system operated on emergency generators and had sufficient water supplies. Power has since been restored.
Water samples from the water system were provided to the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water, which, on December 28, 2025, determined that the water was safe to drink. Customers were notified that the Boil Water Notice has been lifted and given instructions on how to flush their water.
