Gage Well No. 3 – Central Basin West
Investing in Reliable Water Infrastructure in Central Basin West
Golden State Water Company is committed to responsibly maintaining local water infrastructure so we can continue providing customers with premium water service so they never have to think twice about the quality of their water. To fulfill this commitment, we are making proactive investments to upgrade water supply and delivery facilities, creating sustainable, long-term value for the communities we serve. These forward-looking investments help prevent the costly and sometimes dangerous impacts of deferred maintenance or aging infrastructure, while ensuring a resilient water system for the future.
An example of an investment in water infrastructure in the Central Basin West Customer Service Area is the replacement of Gage Well No. 2 in the Bell-Bell Gardens system. The existing well, originally drilled in 1937, has experienced sand production issues and was determined by a December 2019 consultant report to have reached the end of its useful service life.
To address this, a new Gage Well No. 3 is being constructed at the Gage Plant to replace the aging facility. The new well is anticipated to produce approximately 1,250 gallons per minute, strengthening the local groundwater supply and helping offset purchased water needs for the Bell-Bell Garden system. Drilling was completed in 2024, and the equipping phase is currently underway with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
This investment will enhance system reliability and help ensure safe, dependable water service for customers now and for years to come.
