Kiowa Solar Generation Project – Apple Valley
Investing in Reliable Water Infrastructure in Apple Valley
Golden State Water Company is committed to responsibly maintaining local water infrastructure so we can continue providing customers with premium water service so they never have to think twice about the quality of their water. To fulfill this commitment, we are is making proactive investments to upgrade water supply and delivery facilities, creating sustainable, long-term value for the communities we serve. These forward-looking investments help prevent the costly and sometimes dangerous impacts of deferred maintenance or aging infrastructure, while ensuring a resilient water system for the future.
An example of an investment in water infrastructure in your local area is the recently completed Kiowa Solar Generation Project. The project included the installation of a 240-kW solar photovoltaic array at the Kiowa Water Treatment Plant to generate renewable on-site energy. The system is projected to generate approximately 240 kWh annually, offsetting the facility’s electricity needs and reducing dependence on the electrical grid.
By generating clean energy on-site, the project supports Golden State Water Company’s sustainability goals and aligns with the company’s pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The system may also produce excess energy for potential export to the grid, contributing to broader environmental benefits within the Apple Valley community.
With an expected payback period of approximately 9.3 years through energy savings and incentives, this investment delivers both environmental and economic value. Completed in February 2026, the Kiowa Solar Generation Project strengthens the reliability and sustainability of local water operations while promoting eco-friendly service for customers now and into the future.
