Lenwood Seismic Coupling Project – Barstow
Investing in Reliable Water Infrastructure in Barstow
Golden State Water Company is committed to responsibly maintaining local water infrastructure so we can continue providing customers with premium water service so they never have to think twice about the quality of their water. To fulfill this commitment, we are is making proactive investments to upgrade water supply and delivery facilities, creating sustainable, long-term value for the communities we serve. These forward-looking investments help prevent the costly and sometimes dangerous impacts of deferred maintenance or aging infrastructure, while ensuring a resilient water system for the future.
An example of an investment in water infrastructure in your local area is the recently completed Lenwood Seismic Coupling Project. A thorough assessment of the 1-million-gallon Lenwood Reservoir identified opportunities to enhance the overall performance of the reservoir. These improvements included upgrading the seismic design standards and rehabilitating both the interior and exterior coatings.
By combining the seismic upgrades with the coating rehabilitation work and establishing a temporary tank during construction, the company minimized operational disruptions and prevented service interruptions to the community.
Completed in July 2024, this project ensures compliance with modern safety standards and enhances the long-term durability and performance of critical infrastructure, helping protect public health and safety while strengthening the reliability and resilience of the Barstow water system.
