On October 11, 2024, Golden State Water Company (GSWC) and the City of Norwalk entered into an agreement for Golden State Water to purchase only portions of the water system that are located outside the city limits. The proposed purchase is subject to review and approval by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the state agency that regulates water utilities such as Golden State Water.

If approved by the CPUC, the acquired water system will be consolidated into Golden State Water’s Region 2 Artesia Water System. Interconnection between the two systems would begin following CPUC approval.
