Helping Protect Water Quality Together
Golden State Water conducts routine lead monitoring as part of our commitment to delivering safe, reliable drinking water. This program helps verify that our water continues to meet state and federal drinking water standards and supports ongoing efforts to protect public health.
If you’ve been invited to participate, thank you. Your participation helps us continue monitoring water quality throughout the communities we serve.
Why Was I Selected?
Federal and state regulations require water utilities to collect samples from homes that meet specific criteria for routine lead monitoring. These homes are selected because they are more likely to contain plumbing materials historically associated with lead.
Being selected does not mean there is a problem with your drinking water. It simply means your home meets the criteria established for routine compliance monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does being selected mean my water contains lead?
No. Homes are selected based on federal sampling criteria—not because lead has been detected.
Is participation required?
Participation is voluntary, but it is greatly appreciated. Customer participation allows Golden State Water to complete the required monitoring and continue verifying the quality of the water we provide.
How often is lead sampling conducted?
For systems that consistently meet lead standards, routine sampling is generally conducted every three years, as required by federal regulations. However, more frequent lead and copper samples may be required as we upgrade our infrastructure and bring new water sources online.
Will I receive my results?
Yes. Once your sample has been analyzed by a State-certified laboratory, Golden State Water will provide your individual results.
